MACKAMIDE® LAME-100 is a superior humectant blend for use in hair and skin care formulations.  MACKAMIDE® LAME-100 is similar to other molecules that comprise the Natural Moisturization Factor (NMF) found in human skin by having the ability to bind water in the stratum corneum. When formulated in leave on skin care MACKAMIDE® LAME-100 increases the water holding capacity on the stratum corneum in the same way as NMF to allow for long lasting moisturizing effects. Unlike glycerin, MACKAMIDE® LAME-100 provides a light conditioning and non-tacky feel to the skin and hair.
